Burkes beach - Hilton Head Island

Edit Spot
About

Usually sucks but if you get the sweel, tide, and wind right,
it goes off!!! Especially if the tides are running fast and
you catch the folly bar just right, its awesome.

Atmosphere:
Great restaurants and other things to do. The list
goes on forever. The surfers hang at sunnydaze surf
shop located by the FedEx place on Methews Drive
or at the Supreme Fuel Station by wild wings cafe.

Additional Info:
this can get good
u go to the beach and find the folly opening, paddle out, and there is a sand bar
90 degrees to the beach, surf it but watch for currents and dont get pulled to the rocks
or into the folly, many people die here, or u can surf the beach break at any public
beach. I would bring your fish or longboard. many surfers when a swell is running
but hardly any kooks! When u park ur car at burkes beach, get there early and park on
the outside so u dont get blocked in by other cars, also lock ur car cuz there are
mexicans that will break in. The best time to come is in the spring or hurricane season
In the spring there are plenty of NE swells with side-offshore winds and they are good
If a hurricane swell is coming, the setup should be a swell hitting the coast around
low tide, it will be a very hollow shorebreak for 3 hours, at mid tide it gets
semi hollow and you get barreled on the takeoff but only a very short one.
As the swell hits the beach you want a front to come at the same time so the winds
are offshore. The only hazards are the strong currents and the rocks by the folly.
Also watch out for rays in the spring.

see Burkes Beach Road. Walk the path and once to the beach
