Being in the most northern I'd rather take the drive to Løkken (30 min drive from Hitshals), or even better Klitmøller (2 hour drive from Hirtshals) where there is a better chance of getting waves of higher quality.
Additional Info:
Works with ground and wind swells. Classic beach-break. Very clean water.
sand banks are changing often due to harsh weather conditions and a removal of the sand by machines every year. It makes the spot pretty unpredictable and most of the time a disappointing experience.
watch out for rip current near the pier/boulders.
