Hollekang
Edit SpotAbout
It's a fun little wave that rarely closes out b/c it's in a protected cove. Great place for kids. The only hazard is sand-fleas, so I sometimes mix Dettol (local antiseptic) in with my sunscreen to keep the sand-fleas from biting so much (thanks to Dan for the tip). Also, this is close to the equator so sun is strong and burns quickly.
Atmosphere:
This is a great spot for beginning surfers where peeling waves can easily be caught without much paddling. The bottom is sandy and easy to walk the board out to the breaking area. Because it's protected, the waves rarely get huge, but they have a nice shape and peel nicely when it's breaking well.
Additional Info:
Best surfed at a rising tide with a swell from the north or northwest at over a meter (around 5 feet seems to be great). When the tide is receding the brackish water from a reservoir sometimes dumps back into the beach messing up the wave and muddying the water.

The surf spot is accessible directly from the main road. The bridge here is frequently washed out, so you can not depend on this being a "through road". Accessing the site from any of the main towns, park on the side of the road near the bridge. Locals are generally friendly and happy to watch. Often locals will be fishing in this area, but have never caused any problems.
