Ok area. Great place to learn. Good skim boarding in summer.

Atmosphere:
Friendly locals, great atmosphere. On big days you will see the Surf instructors out there, great guys. Watch for an ambundance of boogie boarders.

Decent even in the summer... Not big, no power.

Drive along the Hotel district on Ka'anapali. Most popular spot is just to the right of the Marriott. In front of the Ka'anapali Alii hotel. Watch out for surf class, ans beginners.
