Tiav'a Rivermouth

Edit Spot
About

A great spot and a great wave.

Atmosphere:
One of the most beautiful spots you will ever surf. High cliffs, lefts and rights peeling away in the South Pacific.

Additional Info:
It's an excelllent rivermouth wave, breaking both left and right from ~2-6 feet. Hot dog style, with sucky hollow barrels, especially on the right.

You need to score it around mid to high tide, so time your trip, low tide is too shallow. It's well worth the drive if the wind is out of the south, and the swell medium from the north. There is one or two other waves nearby, but the rivermouth is the best one.

A days drive down a dodgy road-track on the east side of the island. Small village at the end of the road. The rivermouth break is at the western end of the beach, where there are rounded boulders, there is also a right peak at the east end of the beach that is not usually very good, and another pretty dodgy point-style wave further east around the corner.
