Tofino is a friendly little town that gets loads of tourists during the summer time. All levels of surfers can come and enjoy Tofino. There are loads of rental places and will find all the gear you need with relative ease. You can expect to see beautiful cedar and spruce trees all around and glimpses of Bald Eagles. The ocean is teaming with wildlife and occasional kelp washing ashore. If you're expecting to get pumping waves, you might be disappointed. If you go to Tofino with the expectation to see beautiful wildlife and huge cedar trees and the possibility of getting some fun waves, you'll be sure to have it.

Tofino has a variety of waves. In summer usually has varied waves which are not too strong and bring a smaller wave board/longboard to have fun. The winter gets stronger pulses and is usually the time to get good waves. You can get away with a 4mm wetsuit in summer with booties and winter requires 4/5mm wetsuit with a hood, gloves and booties. Conditions can change quickly so if it looks good, get out there. It can be fickle at times and frustrating. But when you have a good day it's well worth it.

Access

To access the surf breaks is easy and you usually know whether there is waves by the amount of cars parked close to the beach access. Quite accessible by bicycle if you're staying in Tofino and rent a bike. There is water access at Cox and Chesterman to have a shower after a surf.
