Veedol Beach
Edit SpotAbout
The locals are a mixture of seasoned Japanese veterans (20 years + surfing this spot) and American G.I.s from the nearby Air Force base. The atmosphere is really laid back, as you'll spend just as much time bullshitting in the lineup as you are catching waves. If you're in the Tohoku region, don't miss the opportunity to surf this spot!
Additional Info:
This spot is a bit quirky, breaking really well just before or after a typhoon. You get good consistency with the wind swell (it's almost always onshore), but occasionally, when the wind turns around, it gets really good. Standup barrels and really fast sections can be found here. The best part is that it'll be overhead and offshort, and it's just you and one other guy out!

From Misawa Airport, head east to the highway road (Route 338)and hang a right on it. You'll soon see a sign for Veedol Beach, hang a left and follow the road through the port facility, swimming area and parking lot. Cruise over a sandy stretch until you get to a jetty. The break is a set of peaks extending about 300 yards beyond the jetty.
