About

The harder it is to get there, often the reward is greater. There are plenty of places along this coast where you could be the first person to surf. The locals will crowd on the beach and stare at you. Most of the time, the wave along this coast is not impressive...better for longboarding and for having the experience of surfing an adventurous area. But typhoon swells could bring amazing days.

Atmosphere:
I literally purchased a map ($1) and had a motorcycle taxi take me all along this beautiful stretch of coast that is largely just farmland now. Plenty of surf potential, especially when typhoons hit. Plenty of points and beaches face the same direction as Tai Long Wan in the New Territories of Hong Kong. Access is difficult only because traveling in mainland China is difficult. If you have the money, just hire a cab for the day and have him take you everywhere. Hope you can speak some Chinese, or at least have a map and point (even though cabbies in China often don't have or know maps really, they just know the areas by heart, and rely on vocal directions)

Additional Info:
This spot is on the peninsula between Hong Kong and Pinghai Point on the South China Sea map. Nobody surfs here, the locals are all farmers and will stare at you; enjoy the attention/adventure, be cautious of pollution and locals harassing you, especially the motorcycle taxi guys.
