The Box
Edit SpotAbout
I love it, been surfing here for years. Didn't always have to pay. I also go after hours, and I can almost be by myself.
Atmosphere:
Aside from having to pay money to surf here, it can sometimes be worth it. It's a little secret gem on the Jersey Shore. Very Localized. and Very fun if it's going off. Mixed crowd of guys over 50 on theier long boards, young gromms, and middle aged guys like me. For the most part everyone gets along, but there is a pecking order.
Additional Info:
PArking can be tough, but it's an easy, scenic walk. It's in the middle of a very nice, rich neighborhood. The people are very nice, but the older local surfers know thier rights. It's a consistant spot, that is always worth a look. Esp if the inlet is crowded, which it usually is.

Take 71 to Sea Girt Ave. Go around Crescent Park and look at all the mansions. Then park your clunker somewhere along Philidelphia Blvd, try not to bump a Mercedes, And walk east. If you there in the summer, during life guard hours, prepare to pay Brian (The beach attendant) Nine Bucks... you heard me corectly. $9!! There is no negotiating with this man either... I've tried. The ocean should be free and I'm here to surf not lay on the beach.
